Are your actions so general you have no idea where to start?

Break up your actions into smaller parts.

By including subactions, you can add more details into the action card and even divide work among the team!

Subactions function exactly like an action card, except it is nested under the parent action.

To view subactions of an action, simply click on the main action card. You can tell an action has subactions by the icon on the front of the card.

Once you click open the action card, you can see them all listed below the description.

Add new ones in a snap by entering text in the "New subaction" field.

Click on the subaction to see more details.

When you reassign an action that has subactions to someone else, you'll get a confirmation prompt asking if you want to reassign the subactions to that user as well.

There are two key things that are important to understand about subactions.

  1. Subactions are independent - You can assign assignees, due dates and write description about the subaction. Basically, anything you can have in a main action card, you can have in a subaction. Subaction also include a link at the top that takes you back to the main action.

  2. Subactions are infinite - You can create subactions for subactions (think inception).

  3. You can convert a subaction to a regular action (just use the "More" 3 dots on the right-side of the action card > Convert to action)

  4. You can make any action a subaction of another action (use the same "More" menu to make an action a subaction)

Hive's Tip: Hide subactions and assignees in Calendar view if you need to make your view less crowded.
