How to link Hive to your existing Salesforce account

At Hive, we aim to make it as seamless as possible for teams to work together and integrate with other existing tools like Salesforce through our native integration.

Here's a Quick Example of How to Use This Integration: Creating a New Project from a Templated Project

A Marketing agency has set up a templated project in Hive that with standard actions, due dates, and assignees that they use for every new customer that is onboarded.

When a new customer comes on, the Project Manager copies this templated project and adjusts the Project name for the new customer and the due date. 

All new sales flow through Salesforce, so this was a manual step the Project Manager had to take. To increase efficiency, they set up the native Hive integration with Salesforce. 

They used a trigger for "Opportunity Stage Change" to tell Hive that whenever the Opportunity Stage changed to "Onboarding" that Hive would copy the Templated Project and change the project name to the Salesforce account name. 

Hive only uses field names that are valid in your Salesforce Account and only one person in your workspace needs to set up the integration for the data to be flowing.  

Note: the project that is created will be private to the person who set-up the Salesforce trigger, so they should plan to change sharing settings as needed once the project is created. 


Step 1: Connect your Salesforce Account

  • Navigate to Hive Apps and click the switch under “Salesforce”.  

  • Log into your Salesforce account with your credentials.  

Note that your organization must be using either the Enterprise, Unlimited, Developer, or Performance edition of Salesforce in order for Hive to be able to access your data inside of Salesforce and make requests to the API on your behalf. 

Step 2: Create your Trigger

  • The menu for creating, viewing, disabling and deleting triggers can be found in the drop-down menu > Salesforce:

  • Clicking "Add new trigger" brings you to the trigger creation screen. There are two sections. "In Salesforce" tells the trigger what to listen for, and "In Hive" tells the trigger what to do in response. 


Step 3: Test

  • You may want to test the trigger to ensure a smooth workflow.  In Salesforce, create the scenario that is your Salesforce trigger, and confirm the resulting action in Hive

Common Questions about the Salesforce Integration:

  1. Can I edit the trigger the Salesforce trigger?

    Editing the trigger once created is not supported yet. You should delete the trigger & create a new one if you need to make changes.   2. If the person who created the Salesforce trigger leaves the company, are the triggers deleted?

    No, the trigger is not deleted.

  3. Are the Salesforce triggers I create visible to other users?

    Yes, the triggers are visible to everyone in the workspace.
