New in Analytics: Utilization Report

A Closer Look at Hive's Utilization Report

Written by Michaela Rollings

The Utilization Report dashboard is a powerful tool that can help you identify areas where your team can improve productivity. Use the visualizations to track how many estimated and actual hours your team is working against their target hours. Identify underallocated and overallocated users, roles, and teams, and adjust their workload accordingly. With this dashboard, you can optimize your team's performance and achieve your goals.

Let's walk through each of the fields shown on the Utilization Report inside of Hive's Analytics app.

Estimated Hours are inputted into Hive at the project level as Resourcing Assignments or at the action level using Time-tracking. Actual Hours are entered into Hive at the project level using Timesheets or at the action level using Time-tracking estimates. We calculate the number of target hours for each user based on their work week availability and their utilization target, which is set per user in the Resourcing app.

Estimated Utilization is a user's estimated hours divided by the number of hours a user has available. Actual Utilization is a user's actual hours divided by the number of hours a user has available.
