Hive Notifications
Stay on top of changes across your workspace — assignments, mentions, comments, and more.
Accessing Notifications
Click the bell icon in the upper-right corner of the app. An orange dot appears when you have unread notifications. Notifications are organized into five tabs:
Tab | What it shows |
Me | Updates specific to you: new assignments, @mentions, direct chats |
All | Updates on all actions you follow (created, assigned to, mentioned in, or commented on) |
Mentions | Notifications where you were @mentioned |
Archived | Notifications you previously archived |
Pinned | Notifications you pinned for later |
Notification Filters
Use the Filter dropdown (next to Show) within any notification tab to toggle specific notification categories on or off. You can select or deselect all at once, or pick exactly the types you care about.
Filter | What it includes |
Assignments | When you are assigned or unassigned from an action card |
@mentions | When someone @mentions you in a comment, description, or note |
Direct messages | New direct (1:1) chat messages sent to you |
Comments | New comments on action cards you follow |
Approvals | Approval requests sent to you and status changes on approvals you submitted |
Status changes | When the status of an action you follow is updated (e.g. In Progress, Complete) |
Project updates | Changes to projects you belong to — new members, status, dates, settings |
Goals | Updates on goals you own or follow — progress, status, value changes |
Reactions | When someone reacts to your comment or notification with an emoji |
Team mentions | When a team you belong to is @mentioned |
Workflows | Notifications triggered by automated Hive workflows (action automations) |
All filters are enabled by default. Use "Deselect all" to start fresh, then enable only the categories you want to see.
Managing Notifications
Read and Archive
Mark a notification as read to acknowledge it, then archive it when you're done. Click any notification to jump directly to the referenced action card or message — use your notification list as a to-do list.
Bulk Actions
Use "Mark all as read" to bulk-read notifications, then "Archive all" to clear your list. Visit the Archived tab to unarchive or mark items as unread again.
How You Start Following an Action
You automatically become a follower (and start receiving notifications) on an action when you:
Create the card
You follow everything you create.
Get assigned to the card
Assignment automatically follows.
Get @mentioned in a comment
Mentions trigger follow status.
Comment on the card
Commenting opts you into updates.

Don't follow mentioned actions — opt out of auto-following actions where you're @mentioned.
