Sidekick is built for customer-facing conversations (especially sales), but also supports internal and other external meetings.
What Buzz Sidekick does
Phase | What Sidekick helps with |
Before | Meeting prep briefings, agenda and goals, attendee context, CRM account/opportunity links (when Hive CRM is enabled) |
During | Live transcript, goal and agenda progress, suggested next questions, answers/concerns cards, extracted commitments and next steps |
After | Call summary, deal health signals, draft follow-up, convert next steps into Hive actions, meeting history |
What you need
Required for full Sidekick experience
Hive desktop app (macOS or Windows) — recording, meeting detection, and auto-open settings do not run in the web browser alone.
Buzz enabled in your workspace:
AI Enabled Workspace
Buzz Assistant — turn both on from Apps if your admin has not already.
Permissions on your computer (macOS): when you first record, Sidekick may ask you to allow:
Accessibility — detect active meeting windows (Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, etc.)
Microphone — capture audio
Screen recording — capture meeting content
Open system settings from Sidekick if any permission is missing.
Recommended
Google Calendar or Microsoft Outlook calendar connected in Hive — so Sidekick can show upcoming meetings and Prepare in Sidekick prompts.
Hive CRM (if you sell with Hive) — attach accounts and opportunities for richer prep and deal context.
Open Buzz Sidekick
Method | How |
Application menu | In the Hive desktop app: Application → Open Buzz Sidekick |
Keyboard shortcut |
|
Buzz Spotlight | Press |
Calendar prompt | When a calendar event appears in Hive, click Prepare in Sidekick |
From Buzz | Open Sidekick from Buzz chat footer (desktop) |
Auto-open | Avatar → My Settings → Buzz AI → Open Buzz Sidekick when Hive starts |
Sidekick opens in its own always-on-top window so you can keep it beside Zoom, Meet, or Teams.
Prepare for a meeting
Open Sidekick and select a meeting from your calendar (or start without a scheduled meeting).
Open the Background / prep view for that meeting.
Choose a meeting type — this shapes how Buzz coaches you:
Sales — discovery, objections, demo prep, deal next steps
Internal — decisions, blockers, owners, follow-ups
Other external — agenda, relationship context, commitments
Review or generate a prep briefing (Buzz can research attendees and context when configured).
Add goals, agenda items, and prep materials (notes, links, Hive notes) you want to track on the call.
Optionally attach CRM context (account or opportunity) if Hive CRM is enabled for your workspace.
When you’re ready, enter the live session and start recording.
During a live meeting
Click Start recording (or enable auto-start — see Settings below).
Sidekick transcribes the conversation in real time.
Use the live panel to:
Track goals and agenda — Buzz marks items complete when the conversation substantively covers them.
See suggested next questions — short prompts based on what’s still open.
Review next steps — commitments Buzz extracts from the call (with owner when possible).
Use coaching cards — Answers (respond to participant questions), Concerns (objections), or Custom triggers you define.
Optional: open Buzz chat inside Sidekick to refine a next step or draft follow-up content.
Tip: Speak clearly and allow a short pause after major commitments — Sidekick evaluates the transcript at natural turn boundaries.
After the call
When you end the session, Sidekick shows a call summary with:
Overview and key points
Sentiment and deal health (especially useful on sales calls)
Captured next steps
Suggested goals for the next meeting
From here you can:
Draft follow-up — Buzz helps draft email or message copy from the call.
Create Hive actions — turn a next step into an action card (title, assignee, project) with Buzz-assisted drafting.
Review meeting history — reopen past meetings to read transcript, summary, and notes.
Share a meeting with your team
Workspace admins can set a default in Workspace Settings → Buzz AI → Meeting sharing default:
Only me — your meeting notes stay private
Everyone — new Sidekick meetings default to workspace-visible sharing
You can also share an individual meeting from Sidekick (e.g. only me, specific people, or everyone). Shared meetings let teammates view context; editing rules depend on whether they own the meeting record.
Buzz Sidekick settings
Go to Avatar → My Settings → Buzz AI.
Setting | What it does |
Open Buzz Sidekick when Hive starts | Desktop only — opens Sidekick when you launch Hive |
Automatically start recording when joining a meeting | Desktop only — starts recording after meeting detection; you can still start manually |
These settings require the Hive desktop app and will not apply in the browser.
For workspace-wide AI rules and meeting sharing defaults, admins use Workspace Settings → Buzz AI.
Hive CRM and Sidekick
If your workspace uses Hive CRM, Sidekick can:
Attach an account or opportunity to a meeting
Surface CRM and attendee context in prep
Inform summaries and deal health on sales calls
Sidekick does not replace CRM — it connects live conversations to the records you already manage in Hive.
Supported meeting platforms
Sidekick detects and records common video tools, including:
Zoom
Google Meet
Microsoft Teams
Use the Hive desktop app on macOS or Windows for detection and recording.
