Hive can save a month-end record of each project's budget against actual spend, so you can see how a project's budget moved month by month. Monthly budget snapshots require Hive Finance.
Turn it on (workspace admins)
Go to Settings → Apps. Under CRM, find Project timeline and budget history.
Turn on Save monthly budget snapshots.
Check the Finance time zone. Months close at 00:00 on the 1st in this zone. If no zone is set yet, turning snapshots on saves the one shown.
Where snapshots appear
Open the project's Overview. In the Project budget widget, the budget variance panel shows a Month-end snapshots list once the first snapshot exists. Each entry, for example Snapshot 2026-10, shows:
Budget: the approved budget at month end.
Month spend: what was spent in that month.
Spent: the total spent to date.
Remaining: the budget left.
When a month is captured
Each month is captured on the 11th of the following month, so timesheets approved late still count. For example, October is captured on November 11.
Only projects with an approved baseline before the month ends get a snapshot. Archived projects and templates are skipped.
If the capture is missed (it runs for up to 48 hours after the 11th), that month is skipped and isn't filled in later.
Month spend is blank when the previous month has no snapshot, for example a project's first month.
Snapshots are read-only. They never change the project's baseline or budget.
Who can see them
People with access to the project's budget figures.
