What is a Baseline?

In project management, Baselines are a snapshot of what was planned before beginning a project. Baselines typically track the planned start date and end date of each work item on a project.

Baselines help your team understand whether the actual execution of a project has deviated from what was planned.

Enabling Baselines in Hive

To access baselines in Hive, you'll want to go to "Hive Apps" and enable "Baselines". Doing this will enable Baselines for all projects in your workspace.

Taking a Baseline snapshot in Gantt View

You will be able to take baseline snapshots in the project Gantt view based on the start and end dates on actions in the project.

Financial Data

You can also compare your previous financial data with the latest project budget!

Simply create a project Baseline in Gantt view and this will automatically snapshot budget information as well.

Once created, you can navigate to the project Overview page > Budget Overview section. Use the 'View baseline' dropdown to see your existing Baselines and compare budget definitions, totals, and other cost details at the time.

This helps to improve financial transparency and support better decision-making throughout the project lifecycle!

The Planned Start Date and Planned End Date from the most recent baseline is included as a column in the Export to Excel or CSV, as shown here:
