This article covers four dashboard tools: asking the owner for access, emailing a dashboard on a schedule, updating actions straight from a chart, and arranging several widgets at once.
Request access to a dashboard
If someone shares a dashboard link in Messages and you can't open it, the link shows Dashboard unavailable.
Click Request access.
The link then shows Access request sent. Waiting for the owner to grant access.
The dashboard owner gets a Dashboard access request notification. To approve it, the owner opens their notifications and clicks Grant access. You then get a Dashboard access granted notification, and clicking it opens the dashboard.
Notifications only: Hive doesn't send an email for access requests. The owner sees the request in their Hive notifications and on the mobile app.
Only the owner can grant access. Workspace admins can't approve a request unless they own the dashboard. If the dashboard changes owner, the old request shows This request is no longer valid.
Sharing changes: Granting access gives you view access. If the dashboard was set to Me, Private or Public, its sharing changes to Custom so it can include you.
No button? Request access doesn't appear if the dashboard was deleted or archived, if you already have access, or if you're not in the dashboard's workspace. Asking again doesn't notify the owner twice.
Email a dashboard on a schedule
Anyone who can open the dashboard can schedule an email.
Open the dashboard and click Share.
Go to Scheduled share via email.
In Recipients, search for people or teams, or type any email address. Press Enter or a comma to add an address. You can also paste several addresses at once.
Pick a date and an hour, and choose how often to repeat: Once, Daily, Weekly, Monthly or Yearly. Emails are sent on the hour.
Click Schedule email, or click Send now to send it straight away.
Teams: Choosing a team emails each member of the team. Each address gets the email once, even if it is in several teams.
Access isn't changed: Adding someone as a recipient doesn't give them access to view the dashboard in Hive.
Can't send? Invalid email addresses, and people with no email address, must be fixed or removed first. You can't schedule an email in the past.
Scheduled emails: These are listed under the schedule controls. Click Cancel to stop one. The person who scheduled it, the dashboard owner and workspace admins can cancel.
Archived dashboards: These can't be emailed.
Update actions from a chart drill-in
When you click part of a chart, or the number in a Numbers widget, a list of the actions behind it opens. You can update those actions without leaving the dashboard.
Tick the box next to each action you want to change.
Use the toolbar that appears at the bottom to change Assignees, Status, Project or Labels. Depending on your permissions and the project, you can also copy, link, archive or delete the selected actions, or change whether external users can see them.
Only the actions you selected are changed. The selection clears when you close the list or click a different part of the chart. Bulk updates work in action drill-ins only. They aren't available on shared or public dashboard links, on read-only dashboards, or in exports.
Arrange several widgets at once
Click Select widgets (the pointer icon next to Add widget), or press V.
Click the widgets you want. Hold Ctrl (Cmd on Mac) to add or remove one, or hold Shift to select a range. To select every widget, click Select all or press Ctrl+A (Cmd+A on Mac).
Use the toolbar to arrange them:
Align: Align left, Align center or Align right.
Distribute: Distribute horizontally, Make equal row or Make equal column.
Match size: Match width or Match height.
Press Esc or click × to finish.
The same toolbar also has Duplicate and Delete for the selected widgets. The arrange buttons and Select all only appear when the dashboard has two or more widgets.
Move widgets with the keyboard: With widgets selected, the left and right arrow keys move them one column. Hold Shift to move four columns.
Greyed-out buttons: Hover a button to see why it's unavailable, for example Select 2 or more widgets, Can't fit on one row or Wider than the dashboard. Arranging needs a wide enough window, so it doesn't work on phones (Arrange from a wider window).
Changes are saved: Arranged layouts are saved automatically.
Not available: On archived dashboards, Select widgets is greyed out. On read-only dashboards it doesn't appear.
