Workflows lets you automate repeatable work in Hive. Build a workflow with a When trigger and one or more Then operations so Hive can update actions, notify people, run Buzz jobs, and more — without manual follow-up.
Open the Workflows app from the left sidebar (or Apps) to create and manage workflows.
Creating a workflow
Each workflow has two parts:
When (trigger) — the event that starts the workflow
Then (operations) — the steps Hive runs after the trigger (and any conditions) match

Some triggers are feature-gated (for example meetings, CRM, tables, file library, or timesheets) and appear when those apps are enabled. Some triggers must be used alone and cannot be combined with other trigger types.

Available operations depend on your plan and enabled apps. Send an email and Post to Slack require a paid plan.
Send an email
Enter a subject and body (message).
Optionally link the related action in the email.
Type an email address, or use tokens such as Created by, Assignee, or project members — useful for emailing the person who submitted a form.
Give Buzz a job
Buzz is Hive's AI assistant. In a workflow, you can give Buzz a job such as:
Create a summary
Deadline digest (upcoming / overdue follow-up emails)
Custom job (your own prompt)
Give the job a title and write a clear prompt about what Buzz should do.
From the workflow's three-dot menu, you can:
Enable / Disable the workflow
Edit the workflow
Change the title
Duplicate the workflow
View runs
Add / move to folder
Archive the workflow
Delete the workflow — deleted workflows cannot be restored

Remove the due date when status becomes Blocked — Trigger: Status changes to Blocked. Operation: Remove due date.
2. Deadline digest
Use Give Buzz a job → Deadline digest to email users based on how close actions are to their due dates, supporting proactive follow-up.

Workflow Manager
Use Workflow Manager for a workspace-wide view of workflow runs.
Each run shows its timestamp, status, and who (or what) triggered it. Use Configure filters for status, date range, and workflow. Note: the runs list typically shows Completed and Failed runs (skipped runs may not appear).
FAQs
Is Workflows free for all plans?
Workflows is available as a Hive app. Activity (active workflows and execution runs) is limited by subscription type. Some operations — including Send an email and Post to Slack — require a paid plan.
Can I make my Workflow private?
No. At this time, workflows are visible and accessible to workspace members.
Who can edit workflows?
Only workspace admins and the original creator can edit a workflow.
What happened to Workflow Buttons?
You can use the Button is clicked trigger in Workflows. Existing buttons continue to be stored and edited in the Workflow Buttons app.
How is this different from Hive Automate?
Workflows is Hive's native automation builder for triggers and operations inside Hive — including many first-party integrations such as Slack, Salesforce, email received, and API Request.
Hive Automate is the recipe-based platform for deeper multi-app integrations and more complex cross-system automations outside Hive's native Workflows surface.
