Holidays and time off in Hive

Add holidays, time off, and Out of office status so work isn't scheduled when people are away.

Written by Ellen Kajca

Hive has three ways to show when people are away. Each one helps stop work from being scheduled on those days.

Holidays for your team

Workspace admins add holiday calendars in Settings → Holiday schedule → Manage calendars. Each calendar has a name, a color, members, and holidays. For the steps, see Add holidays in Hive.

Time off in Resourcing

If your plan includes Resourcing, add time off for yourself or a teammate:

  1. Open Resourcing, click Create, and select Time off.

  2. Under Resource, select the person.

  3. Optional: select a Leave type and add Notes.

  4. Under Dates, select the days off, and click Create.

The days show as Time off in Resourcing. If someone assigns that person an action on those days, Hive shows an Out of office conflict message.

Out of office status

Set your status to Out of office so your colleagues know you're away. If your Google or Outlook calendar is connected to Hive, Hive sets this status for you when an out-of-office event starts. For the steps, see How do I set myself as away when I'm taking time off?

While your status is on, people who assign you an action see an Out of office conflict message.
