Dashboards in Project Views: Blank vs. Linked to Project vs. Copy to Project

Add a dashboard view to connect your project to dashboard reporting easily.

Written by Dee Miller-Thorne

When you add a Dashboard view to a project, you can choose how the dashboard should be created or connected. The three options are Blank, Linked to project, and Copy to project.

Blank

Choose Blank to create a brand-new empty dashboard in the project view.

You can then add the widgets, charts, filters, and reporting blocks you need for that specific project.

Best for: creating a custom dashboard from scratch.

Linked to project

Choose Linked to project to reuse an existing dashboard and keep it connected.

A linked dashboard stays connected to the original dashboard. Updates to the dashboard are reflected wherever it is linked.

Best for: using one shared dashboard across multiple places and keeping reporting consistent.

Copy to project

Choose Copy to project to duplicate an existing dashboard into the project.

The copied dashboard starts with the same setup as the original, but it becomes independent. Changes to the copy do not affect the original dashboard, and changes to the original do not affect the copy.

Best for: using an existing dashboard as a template, then customizing it for the project.
