Configure trends on Numbers dashboard widgets

Choose whether a Numbers dashboard widget displays trend information, and learn what happens when no date range is available.

Choose whether to show a trend

Numbers widgets display a clean KPI value by default. You can opt in to trend information when you want to compare the value with a previous period.

  1. Open a dashboard and select a Numbers widget.

  2. Open Edit widget.

  3. Under the display options, turn Show trend on.

  4. Add a date range or date filter, such as This month, so Hive can calculate the comparison.

  5. Choose how to display the result when the option is available: value, percentage, or both.

  6. Save the widget.

Turn trends off

To return to a quiet KPI, edit the widget and turn Show trend off, then save. The trend controls and trend information are removed from the tile.

When a date range is missing

You can still change the Show trend setting without a date range. Hive explains in the widget settings that a date range is needed, while the dashboard tile continues to show the KPI without an error message. Add a date range to display a meaningful trend, or turn the option off.

  • New Numbers widgets have trends off by default.

  • Widgets that already have trends enabled keep that setting until you turn it off.

  • Removing the last date range turns trends off for that widget.
