Report on Time with the Buzz AI widget

Have Buzz summarize time tracking, estimates, timesheets, and resourcing on a dashboard.

Written by Ellen Kajca

The Buzz AI dashboard widget can report on Time as well as on actions and projects. Buzz reads the same time data you can chart in a Time chart widget, such as time tracking, estimates, timesheets, and resourcing. It then writes a summary for you or builds the report you ask for.

The Buzz AI widget needs Buzz. For more about the widget, see Dashboard Widgets.

Set up a Time report

  1. Add a Buzz AI widget to a dashboard (Add widget, then search for Buzz AI). To change an existing Buzz AI widget, hover over it and select Configure widget (gear).

  2. Under Report on, choose Time. The default is Actions and projects.

  3. Under Time metric, choose what to measure, for example Time Tracking Hours. The list has the same metrics as Time in the chart builder, including tracked, timesheet, estimated, and resourced hours, and costs, budgets, and margins that you have access to.

  4. Under Group by, choose how to break down the results, for example User or project. If you group by a custom field or a tag, select the field or tag.

  5. Under Time units, choose Hours, Days, or Hours and minutes.

  6. Under Widget filters, set the date range in Date of time logged (the default is Last 30 days). Select Add filter to narrow the report further. To also use the dashboard's filters, turn off Ignore dashboard filters.

  7. Choose AI Summaries or Custom (see below), and then select Save.

AI Summaries or Custom

  • AI Summaries: Buzz writes a summary of the time report, with key insights. Use Guide Buzz to tell Buzz how to write it, for example "Point out anyone over 40 hours." Your instructions apply every time the summary is generated.

  • Custom: In Ask Buzz, describe what you want, for example "Compare billable and non-billable hours by project for this month." Type / to use slash commands or read-only Buzz tools, or start from a preset.

Who sees what

  • Results use each viewer's access. When someone opens the dashboard, Buzz builds the time report with their permissions. If they can't see a project, a person's time, rates, or budgets, Buzz doesn't use that data for them.

  • The setup is saved; the summary is not. Everyone sees the same widget settings, but each person gets their own generated result in their session. The result updates when the widget's scope or filters change.

  • Buzz only reads time data. It can't log or edit time, change estimates, approve timesheets, or change resource assignments.

Tips

  • If Buzz's numbers don't match a Time chart, check that both use the same metric, filters, and date range.

  • To report on action counts and project activity instead, set Report on back to Actions and projects.
