Set up workflow buttons on a project template
You can configure automation-button workflows on a project template and have them available in projects created from that template. This helps standardize repeatable work and avoids recreating the same workflow for every new project.
Open the workflow builder and create or edit an automation-button workflow.
In the workflow’s project scope, select the project template.
Save or enable the workflow.
When creating a project from the template, turn on Copy app workflows linked to the template project.
Use the inherited button in a new project
After the project is created with workflow copying enabled, the project inherits the template’s selected workflow definition. The automation button appears on eligible actions in the new project. Click the button on the relevant action to run the workflow for that action.
Important behavior
The workflow and button definition are shared rather than duplicated.
Changes to an inherited workflow definition can affect the projects using it.
Adding or removing workflows on the template later does not retroactively change projects that were already created from it.
Existing projects are not backfilled; the setting applies when creating a project from the template.
Availability
This behavior applies to automation-button workflows used with project templates and projects created from those templates. The project-copy option must be enabled for inheritance to occur.
