Time Report Visibility

Ensure the right workspace members can see relevant timesheet reports

Written by Ellen Kajca

When reporting on Time data it is key to ensure that the data is available to the right workspace members.

Reporting Visibility

By default, timesheets are routed to Project Owners. This means project Owners, in addition to Manager and Workspace Admins, can view the time data in reporting.

Users can edit the project to route to Managers instead. This means only Managers and Workspace Admins can view the time data in reporting.

Setting a Manager

Workspace admins can set managers in Workspace Settings > Manage users. On the Full access or Hive users tab, use the manager field in a person’s row to add, change, or remove their managers. Only workspace admins can change managers here. External users do not have a manager field.

Workspace admins can also set managers in the Resourcing app:

  • Click a person's name in Resourcing to open their profile, then change Manager(s).

  • To update many people at once, select More → User profiles. In the Manager column, select a person's field to add, change, or remove managers. Rows with no manager show No manager.

Submit a timesheet with no manager

A timesheet needs a manager to approve it. If a member has no manager, Hive does not submit the timesheet and shows: "Ask a workspace admin to assign your manager before submitting this timesheet." When a workspace admin submits for someone with no manager, Hive asks the admin to choose one first. If your workspace approves timesheets automatically, Hive does not ask for a manager.
