Use Hive's conditional visibility to show or hide questions dynamically on your Hive Forms and create unique designs based on different criteria.
Question Visibility
Follow these steps to adjust the visibility of a question on your Hive Form.
Navigate to the edit settings for the form question you wish to control the visibility of
Open Conditions in the question settings panel.
Find Make the question visible if and click its Edit (magic wand) button.
You can now select the question from your form you wish to use to control the visibility of your question
Set the desired question response and operator to trigger the visibility of your question
Click Apply to confirm your settings
Save your changes, then select Publish or Save and Publish when ready to update the form used by submitters. Saving alone does not publish your changes.
The above example shows a question that will become visible when a form submitter selects 'Yes' for the Is Hive Awesome question.
Dropdown Answer Visibility
Follow these steps to set the visibility for options in your dropdown questions based on the response to another question.
Create the question that will trigger the choices in your dropdown. In this example, the select an area question will control which items are shown in the follow-up question.
Create your dropdown question with all of your options/choices listed
Open the choices section of the question edit modal on the right-hand side
Click the pen icon beside the first item in your dropdown choices
You can now select the trigger question to control the visibility of this choice
Click Apply to confirm your settings
Repeat this for each choice in your dropdown
Don't forget to save and publish your form.
Make a question required only when a condition is met
Visibility and required answers are separate settings. Use Make the question required if when a question should require an answer based on a condition.
Select the question in the form editor and open Conditions.
Find Make the question required if and click its Edit (magic wand) button.
Choose the question to evaluate, an operator, and the matching answer where the operator requires one. Click Apply.
Use Preview to check both matching and non-matching answers. For the matching case, leave the affected question blank and check that the form requires an answer before advancing or submitting.
Save your changes, then select Publish or Save and Publish when ready.
Check your conditional rules
Check the condition on the question you want to show or require, and confirm it references the intended question, operator, and answer.
Test both an answer that matches the condition and one that does not in Preview.
If the question should be both visible and required under a condition, review both settings separately.
If the shared form behaves differently from the editor, confirm your latest changes are published and test the published form link.
