Dashboards in Project Views: Blank dashboard vs. Project copy vs. Link existing dashboard

Add a dashboard view to connect your project to dashboard reporting easily.

Written by Ellen Kajca

To add a dashboard to a project, click + next to the project's view tabs, select Dashboards under Apps, and click Add. In Create a new dashboard tab, choose how the dashboard is created or connected: Blank dashboard, Project copy, or Link existing dashboard.

Blank dashboard

Choose Blank dashboard to start a new, empty dashboard for this project. Enter a Dashboard name and click Create dashboard.

You can then add the widgets, charts, filters, and reporting blocks you need for that specific project.

Best for: creating a custom dashboard from scratch.

Project copy

Choose Project copy to make a separate, editable copy for this project. In Add dashboard, pick a dashboard on the Dashboards tab or a template on the Templates tab, then click Add.

The copy starts with the same setup as the original, but it becomes independent. Changes to the copy stay in this project and do not affect the original dashboard, and changes to the original do not affect the copy.

Best for: using an existing dashboard or template as a starting point, then customizing it for the project.

Link existing dashboard

Choose Link existing dashboard to reuse a dashboard from your library. In Add dashboard, pick the dashboard and click Add. The project tab points at the same dashboard.

Because it is the same dashboard, edits you make in this tab update the shared dashboard everywhere it is used.

Best for: using one shared dashboard across multiple places and keeping reporting consistent.
