Introducing our newest app, Dashboards.

Dashboards is your personalized homepage for all of the most important things (to you) in your organization's workspace. Use it as a notepad for your next 1-on-1, dashboard for your latest project, or any other reason you need to see your relevant tasks, notes, and goals at a glance.

Dashboards is available to all Hive users, regardless of plan. To access Dashboards, go to Apps -> Workspace Apps, and scroll down to Dashboards. From here, you can choose to pin it to your left sidebar. Toggle Dashboards on to begin using it and click into the app to begin.

Creating your first Dashboard

As soon as you open the app, you’ll be prompted to create your first dashboard.

From here, you have the option to make your Dashboard Private (to just you or selected team members) or Public (to all members of the workspace). You can always change this, so we recommend starting with a Private dashboard, and making it Public after you're finished creating it.

Adding and customizing widgets

After you create your Dashboard, you can start adding and customizing your widgets. To see all of the widgets available, you need to click Add Widget > Widget Library. From there you’ll see that there are several types of widgets you can leverage such as:

*Embed - Embedding a website will depend on if the website allows embedding.

Chart Builder

You can use the Chart Builder to display Actions/Projects in a Bar Chart, Pie Chart, Line Chart, or Display of Numbers.

You can further customize your charts by using Filters and Grouping!

Users can choose their X & Y Axis depending on what you Report On!

Edit and View modes

You can work in Dashboards in two modes: Edit vs View

  • View mode is the default one when you open the app. It locks widget configuration but its position on the Dashboard can still be changed.

  • Edit mode can be accessed by hovering over your widget and clicking the Gear icon. From there, you can configure the widget, apply new filters, etc. Hit 'Save chart' at the top of your widget to save the changes made.

Project Drill Down

To see which specific projects your chart is referring to, you can click on a slice, bar, line, or number widget and detailed information will appear.

Swipe left to locate the '+' button and add additional columns. Drag & drop to manage the column order easily.

Custom Fields

You can also view actions/projects by a specific Custom Field. To customize the view, go ahead and change the custom field colors:

Dashboards in Projects

For easier access, you can also add your Dashboard to the project directly. Go ahead and create a new Dashboards tab.

Dashboards in Notes

In Hive Notes, press the blue '+' icon to add the widget and create a chart directly from the note.

Pin your Dashboard

To quickly access your Dashboard, you can also pin it to the Hive left navigation panel from the More menu.

Dashboard Template

The Dashboard Template feature allows users to easily visualize multiple data sets at once with customizable, pre-designed layouts. Its intuitive drag-and-drop interface simplifies the process, enabling users to create comprehensive dashboards quickly, even without prior experience.

To use the Dashboard template, you can choose the Apply Template in an existing Dashboard or use the View Template in an empty dashboard.

Once you choose to use the Template, you can choose from the options and the Dashboard will populate!

Dashboard settings

If you need to edit your dashboard settings, click Menu in the top right corner > Edit. From here, you can rename your dashboard, adjust privacy settings, and select or deselect projects to be included in your widgets. You can also delete a dashboard from the same Menu; however, Dashboards are not recoverable, so once it's deleted, it will be removed from your workspace entirely! Remember to triple-check before deleting.

If you need to share or duplicate your dashboard, you can also do this in the top right Menu. When clicking Share, the link is copied to your clipboard and you can send it to others. Please note that the link only works for users who have a Hive account.

Example

View Actions assigned to a user

  • You can use a Dashboard to view Assigned Actions for a specific user.
On the left, you'll see the Bar Chart that displays the action cards belonging to a user and which status it's in.
On the right, you can find a Table Widget to view all actions assigned to a specific user.

View Overdue actions

  • You can use a Dashboard to view Overdue Actions in the workspace.
On the left, you'll see a Goal widget that is displaying a Goal that shows Overdue actions in the workspace.
On the right, you'll see the Table Widget displaying all Overdue actions in a workspace.

Exporting Dashboards

If you want your non-Hive stakeholders to see the dashboard, you can export your Dashboard to PDF.

To export a Dashboard, navigate to the top right-corner Menu of the Dashboard and find "Export to PDF" in the dropdown. The file will include all information that is visible on the dashboard.

Please note: You must have access to the dashboard to export it.

Users can share their Dashboard publicly using a public link or scheduling an email.

Users can access the Share setting from the More menu!
